Case Study
Sustainable Redesign
See how Petrus reverse engineered oral health products bringing design to life
About the Client
The client is a world-renowned company at the forefront of cutting-edge technology and innovation approached us for a reverse engineering challenge. They are leaders in their field, developing reliable and effective tools for diagnostic imaging, image-guided therapy, patient monitoring, health informatics, and consumer health and home care.
Problem Statement
The client approached Petrus with the task of redesigning oral healthcare products by reverse engineering and then planning the design and manufacturing process.
Approach
- We conduct a teardown analysis of the functional requirements,
- Superimposed parametric and scanned models to compare features based on surface area,
- Adhered to a multi-level quality checking process (CMM Inspection & Geomagic comparison report) so that your product’s drawings are free of any errors.
We created a project brief by using advanced methods for key steps, such as 3D scanning, STL to Parasolid conversion, parametric modeling and drafting, assembly verification, and a CMM and Geomagic comparison report
Solution
- In collaboration with the client, we first analyzed the existing oral healthcare products; then, we designed new models that are more effective and cost-efficient to manufacture.
- We looked at surface parameters like surface mismatch, surface finish, and metrology (D2), contour matching, and contour matching and optimization of milling tools and parts.
